Hilary Duff is expanding her merchandising,
following hot on the heels of the Olsen twins, whose products from clothes to cosmetics have amassed in a billion-dollar brand.
Hilary Duff’s products are aimed at preteen girls, and this fall she’ll be expanding into more clothes, room decor, handbags and more - all under the Stuff by Hilary Duff label in Wal-Mart and Kohl’s.
Hilary Duff is the CEO and head designer for her fashion & lifestyle company, and has been leading the charge now for 10 months.
Former manager to the Olsens’, Robert Thorne, has been helping Hilary get a start on her worldwide business.
Her goal is to generate $1 billion in sales in only 2.5 years. Big goal.
While the Olsen products are now targeting older teens and even an upscale market, Duff comes in to take over this lucrative preteen group.
Thorne noted that one lesson he learned is that it’s best for the celebrity to be at least 19 or 20 before going after an older teen. That’s why Duff is delaying the launch of her teen clothing line in certain overseas markets to late 2007 and in the States to early 2008. However, Duff’s fragrance for teens will be in stores this fall…
"I feel it is not competitive at all," Duff said in an interview. "I feel inspired by them [the Olsen’s]. They will definitely keep me working hard. But definitely there is room for everybody."
HILARY! when will you STOP copying other people.
just because the olsen twins are earning loads by selling clothes,
doesn't mean that you have to COPY them!
what do you think you are?
making a billion dollars when you have JUST STARTED?
